Free Workshop — Ages 8-18

How to Tell Your Story —

A Free Workshop for

Young Creators Ages 8-18

In just one hour, your child will discover the power of storytelling with a

professional author and illustrator. No experience needed. No cost. Just

creativity.

The Challenge

Your Child Has Something to Say. They Just Need Someone to Listen.

Maybe they fill notebooks with stories. Maybe they sketch characters during class. Maybe they have ideas that keep them up at night — worlds they have built, characters they talk about like friends, endings they have rewritten a dozen times.

They are not just daydreaming. They are creating. And they deserve a space where that matters.

One hour. One professional mentor. One room full of young people who love to create.

That is all it takes to show your child that their voice is worth hearing.

He brings warmth, humor, and real-world expertise to every session. Your child will not be learning from a textbook — they will be learning from someone who creates every day and believes deeply that young voices matter.

He has been where your child is. And he knows exactly how to help them take the next step.

Our Promise

Why Is This Workshop Free?

Because the first step should never have a price tag.

We believe every young person deserves the chance to explore their creativity without financial barriers. This workshop exists because we have seen what happens when a child realizes for the first time that their story matters — and we do not think that moment should cost anything.

There is no catch. No bait-and-switch. No credit card required. No upsell during the session.

If your child falls in love with creating and wants to go further, we have programs for that. But this workshop stands on its own — a complete, meaningful experience that your child will carry with them regardless of what comes next.

"We are not giving away a sample. We are giving away a spark."

What Parents Say

Families Love This Workshop

"My daughter has always been a quiet kid who writes in her journal. After this workshop, she came to me with a full story idea and asked when she could do more. I have never seen her that excited about anything."

Maria S.

Parent of a 10-year-old

"I was skeptical about a free workshop — I figured it would be a sales pitch. It was not. Rev. Mwangi genuinely spent the full hour teaching and encouraging the kids. My son wants to sign up for the bootcamp now."

David K.

Parent of a 14-year-old

"My kids are homeschooled and I am always looking for enrichment. This was better than most paid programs we have tried. The energy, the encouragement, the actual skill-building — all in one hour."

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this really free? What is the catch?

Yes, this workshop is 100% free. There is no catch, no credit card required, and no obligation to purchase anything. This workshop is our way of giving every young person the chance to explore their creativity. If your child wants to continue after the workshop, we offer paid programs — but there is never any pressure.

My child is shy. Will they be put on the spot?

Absolutely not. We create a safe, encouraging environment where every child can participate at their own comfort level. Some kids love to share out loud, and others prefer to create quietly. Both are celebrated. Rev. Mwangi is experienced at making every child feel seen without putting anyone on the spot. Many of our most engaged students started as the quietest ones in the room.

Is one hour really enough time to learn anything meaningful?

You would be amazed. One hour is enough to spark an idea, learn a storytelling framework, and create the beginning of something real. This is not about mastering a craft in 60 minutes — it is about lighting a fire. Your child will walk away with a concrete story concept and the excitement to keep going, whether on their own or through our programs.

My child has never written a story before. Is that okay?

That is exactly who this workshop is for. No experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to try. We start from the very beginning and make sure every child, regardless of their starting point, feels capable and inspired by the end of the session.

What if my child is already an experienced writer or artist?

Experienced young creators get just as much out of this workshop. They will hear new perspectives on storytelling, get professional-level feedback on their approach, and connect with a community of peers. For advanced students, this is also a great way to preview our more intensive programs like the Book-Building Academy.

Can I (the parent) attend or watch the session?

Yes. Parents are welcome to sit in and observe. We encourage it, especially for younger children. You will see firsthand how your child responds to the creative process and the mentorship style. Many parents tell us they learned something too.
