About Nixon Creative Studios
Nixon Creative Studios is a youth creative education studio dedicated to writing,
illustration, and publishing. We give young people the tools, mentorship, and
platform to discover their creative voice and share it with the world.
Our Story
What happens when young people are given real tools and real trust? That was the question Rev. Nixon Mwangi set out to answer. As a writer, artist, and minister, he saw a gap that few were willing to address: there were talented young creators everywhere, but almost nowhere for them to go.
Schools teach reading, but they rarely teach publishing. Art class covers technique, but seldom teaches students how to turn their vision into a finished, professional work. Mentorship exists in athletics and academics, but creative youth are often left to figure it out on their own.
Nixon Creative Studios was born to close that gap. Founded in Las Vegas and now serving students nationwide via Zoom, we are a creative education studio built specifically for young people ages 8 to 18. Our programs combine live instruction, mentorship, and hands-on project work in writing, illustration, and publishing.
This is not an after-school activity. This is a creative movement, and every student who walks through our doors becomes part of it.
Purpose-Driven

Everything we build is rooted in a clear purpose: to unlock the creative potential of
young people and equip them to share their stories with the world.

Our Mission
To uplift, educate, and inspire youth through creative arts education. We provide structured programs in writing, illustration, and publishing that empower young people to develop their skills, find their voice, and produce professional-quality creative works. Every program we offer is built around the belief that creativity is a birthrightand that every child
deserves access to the tools and mentorship needed to bring their stories to life.

Our Vision
A world where every young person can discover their creative voice, develop it with confidence, and share it with their community and beyond. We envision a generation of young writers, illustrators, and publishers who see themselves not just as consumers of stories but as creators of them. Nixon Creative Studios exists to make that vision a reality, one student, one story, and one published work at a time.
Founder & Lead Mentor
Writer, Artist, Mentor, Founder
Rev. Nixon Mwangi is a multidisciplinary creative professional whose work spans writing, visual art, graphic design, and creative education. With a career built at the intersection of art and purpose, he has dedicated his life to helping young people discover and develop their creative abilities.
Nixon holds a Master of Science from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Theology, combining rigorous academic training with a deep commitment to spiritual and personal development. This unique background informs every aspect of how he teaches, mentors, and leads.
As an ordained minister, Nixon brings a pastoral heart to his work with young creatives. He understands that teaching a child to write or illustrate is about more than technique; it is about helping them see their own worth, find their own voice, and believe that what they have to say matters.
With over a decade of experience mentoring young people, Nixon founded Nixon Creative Studios to formalize the work he had been doing informally for years. He is a published author, a working artist, and above all, an advocate for the creative potential that lives inside every young person.
"Every child has a story waiting to be told. My calling is to help them tell it — beautifully and bravely."

Our Approach

These six principles guide every program we build, every lesson we teach, and every
young creative we serve.

Every class takes place live via Zoom with real-time interaction, direct feedback, and intentionally small class sizes. Our students are never watching recordings or working in isolation. They are part of a living, breathing creative classroom led by a dedicated mentor.

We do not create for our students — we equip them to create for themselves. The student is always the author, the artist, and the protagonist of their own creative journey.

There is a profound difference between writing in a journal and holding a published book with your name on the cover. Publishing transforms a student from a learner into a creator with a real, tangible body of work.

We build a supportive community where students lift each other up, share feedback generously, and celebrate one another's successes. Collaboration, not competition, fuels the best creative work.

Quality creative education should be available to every family regardless of financial circumstances. Through scholarships, sponsorships, and free workshops, we work to eliminate every barrier to access.

We hold our students to high standards because we believe in them. Pursuing excellence in craft is not about perfection — it is about honoring the gift of creativity and the audience who will receive it.
Beyond the Classroom

Our work does not end when class is over. We are building a creative community that
supports young artists long after the final lesson.

Our most dedicated students and alumni serve as ambassadors, mentoring newer students, representing the studio at events, and helping shape the future of our programs. This leadership track builds confidence and real-world skills beyond the creative arts.

Students who complete our advanced programs gain access to the Nixon Creative Studios Publishing Cooperative, where they collaborate on anthologies, receive guidance on self-publishing, and see their work distributed to a wider audience.

Once a year, our community gathers for the Nixon Creative Studios Creative Summit, a celebration of student work, live readings, art showcases, workshops, and awards. It is the highlight of our creative calendar and a powerful reminder of what young people can accomplish.
Our Core Values

These six principles guide every program we build, every lesson we teach, and every
young creative we serve.

Every class takes place live via Zoom with real-time interaction, direct feedback, and intentionally small class sizes. Our students are never watching recordings or working in isolation. They are part of a living, breathing creative classroom led by a dedicated mentor.

Students do not complete worksheets or write essays for a grade. They produce real, publishable creative works: illustrated storybooks, poetry collections, graphic novels, and more. Every program ends with a tangible, professional-quality finished product.

Our three-level structure (Foundations, Builders, Masters) ensures that students grow at the right pace. Each level builds on the last, introducing new skills and greater creative independence while maintaining the mentorship and support students need to thrive.

This is not a factory. Every student is known by name. Our mentors invest personally in each young creative, providing encouragement, honest feedback, and the kind of individual attention that transforms potential into published work.
